For a long time Nicole Richie has been my favourite style icon. I even liked her in the Simple Life, when she was fat. She just looks amazing and stylish everytime: shopping, gym, travelling, party or gala event. Lot of accessories, huge sunglasses, headbands and perfect hair. I also like the Olsen twins, especially Mary-Kate. Cool, trendy, boho and little bit of hippie, but still sexy.
First time I saw Gillian on the screen in the second season of 90210 in 2010, since then I adore her. She plays Californian surfer girl Ivy. But I didnt know that she basically plays herself. She is living in Santa Monica, having a house close to the beach. And her dad comes from Berlin, which probaly influences her lifestyle. She is not a party girl and she says she doesnt do drugs. She prefers to hang out with her boyfriend, her friends, organize bbq or going into the nature. The fashion style of Ivy and Gillian doesnt differ much and I do think much of her outfits for 90210 is made by her. In real Gillian is a bit more extravagant, but her comfy, hippie style remains the same. She looks like she puts on everything she likes without thinking about the ouftit as a whole, sometimes she mixes even totally unmatching things, but in the end all her combinations look very impressive. She looks amazing even without trying to. What I really like about her is that she really combines everything, she wears designers, but also goes to ZARA and TOPSHOP. Very original and definitely not cheap even though most of the stuff she has are second hand or vintage. What more, she doesnt really get why is she considered to be a fashion icon, she just wears what she likes. How simple is that.
Finally also others noticed her fashion sence and now she is filling the covers and fashion stories in most of the magazines. InStyle totally felt in love with her. But thats a good thing. Finally something new, imaginative and original. Viva la California.
